Alternative Provision

At The Playbarn, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop and grow their skills and abilities. That’s why we provide an alternative provision for children who struggle in mainstream education. Our program runs 5 days a week and has been successful in helping children reach their goals and unlock their potential.

We strive to make a difference in the lives of the young people who come to us, and to provide a safe and encouraging environment for them to thrive. We invite you to join us in our mission of improving the lives of children and youth.

What can we offer?

  • Here at The Play Barn, we have a large modern kitchen equipped with all the appliances needed to provide high quality cooking sessions with the young people. We have a range of appliances that meet the different needs of the learners ensuring they are working at the correct skill level.

  • Our provision has work spaces tailored to the learners needs allowing them to complete face to face and virtual sessions.

  • We have a trained staff who are qualified in bike maintenance, this  allows us to educate the learners how to correctly fix their own bikes or ones we provide for them. This is a great stepping stone for young people who aren't sure what they would like to do in the future, helping them to identify whether they prefer practical or less physical work styles. Many learners have followed on to look at carriers in mechanics due to finding a passion and enjoyment once learning these skills.

  • We also have a large outdoor space allowing us to  provide hands on  Forestry learning helping to build self esteem and confidence.

  • We can work alongside schools to create  personalised lesson plans that are tailored to the young people's needs providing them with structure and routine.

  • Fully qualified and experienced staff members that are passionate about excelling the young people’s education and wellbeing.

Staff information
